It started with
Mars bars.
I’ve been in sales for as long as I can remember. In elementary school, I sold Mars chocolate bars door to door. I’d go on my own and hit the apartments in the high-rises.
Later, I sold residential energy contracts door to door, then business contracts. I paid my way through college doing high-volume telecom sales in a call center and cold calling for telemarketing.
I have a profound love and respect for enterprise sales. There’s an art to it. You have to understand the person on the other end, and that takes more than getting through a list of numbers.
Then I got into
the data.
I studied computer science at university and worked as a data engineer at the Department of Defense. I worked with petabytes of sovereign data and machine-learning models. That’s where I got to see, up close, what a robust system actually requires.
I eventually left to build products of my own. I like talking to people about their work, finding out what’s getting in their way, and figuring out whether I can build something useful for them.
With Thred, I get to bring that engineering experience back to something I’ve cared about since I was a kid: selling.
